TWO brothers who were recently freed from Gokwe Prison, thanks to the Presidential Amnesty, have landed back in jail as swiftly as they were released.
Evans (25) and Elvis (21) Mupamhanga from Chemagora, Gokwe South, find themselves in the dock for the grisly murder of their 62-year-old uncle.
According to Midlands province police, the unfortunate victim, Kiddny Mupamhanga, met his untimely demise at the hands of his nephews, who reportedly bludgeoned him with logs and stones.
The tragic incident unfolded like a scene from a macabre drama on the evening of April 23 — six days after the brothers were released — around 7pm.
Apparently, the feud began over the mundane matter of neglecting to fill a water tank.
The incensed brothers decided to take matters into their own hands.
They went to the homestead of Forever Sikochi, the deceased’s younger brother, demanding answers on why the tank was not filled.
When Sikochi failed to provide satisfactory explanations, the situation escalated into a violent confrontation.
As fate would have it, while they were still roughing up Sikochi, they bumped into Kiddny, who was on his way home from Kadoma.
The brothers dredged up past grievances and decided to interrogate him on why he had previously reported them to the police for possessing a firearm, which landed the duo in hot soup.
Evans and Elvis allegedly decided to teach him one final lesson.
It is believed they used logs and rocks to bludgeon their uncle until he succumbed to his injuries.
The horrific spectacle unfolded before their father, Kennedy Mupamhanga, who could only watch in shock and horror.
As news of the heinous crime spread like wildfire, a mob of enraged neighbours armed with machetes and axes went after the brothers to mete out instant justice.
The vigilante justice left the brothers grievously wounded, prompting their hasty evacuation to Gokwe South District Hospital, where they are presently under police guard.
