A local organisation, Chidzomba Foundation and Earth Movers, has installed solar-powered boreholes meant to cushion the residents from the water challenges bedeviling Chinhoyi.

Foundation CEO, Thomas Chidzomba, told H- Metro that they installed 12 solar-powered boreholes in various wards as a way of complimenting the local authority in the provision of water. Safe drinking water is a basic necessity for good health,” he said.

“Unsafe drinking water can be a significant carrier of diseases such as cholera and typhoid.”

He added that drinking water can also be tainted by chemicals with harmful effects on human health.

“It’s our duty and obligation, as responsible citizens, to play an important role in the provision of clean, safe drinking water,” said Chidzomba.

He urged other people to borrow a leaf from the foundation and play their part in the development of the city.

A land developer, Kainos Gwazeni, said the Foundation was making a difference in the society. The Foundation has really made a huge difference in ploughing back into society.

“It’s a great step in the right direction.

“Such wonderful work needs to be complimented,” said Gwazeni.

He called upon the residents to safeguard the boreholes from vandals.

“Residents must jealously guard the boreholes from being vandalised,” said Gwazeni.

A resident, Xharles Gwatidzo, hailed the Foundation. I want to thank the Foundation for ploughing back into society by installing the boreholes. They will go a long way in the provision of safe and clean drinking water.”
