Relief for Egypt-bound Cheziya High chess team

AFTER they failed to make a dream trip to Aktau, Kazakhstan, Cheziya High School chess players will have another opportunity to represent the country when they play in a tournament set for Egypt next month.

The team of five players is still recovering from a huge disappointment after missing a chance of a lifetime to represent Zimbabwe at the World Schools Chess tournament in Kazakhstan, despite fervent efforts from multiple chess federations.

The Zimbabwe Chess Federation has managed to book a place for the team to take part in the upcoming tournament in Egypt after securing a grant from its international organisation, FIDE.

However, the federation is yet to get a refund from the travel agent for the aborted Kazakhstan trip. The travel agent is reportedly playing hide-and-seek with the federation.

The federation has so far received US$7 500 from the initial US$10 000.
