RELIEF FOR UZ STUDENT ACCUSED OF MURDER

A UNIVERSITY  of Zimbabwe student, and his accomplices, who are being accused of murder, were granted bail by the High Court yesterday.

The student, Proud Tawananyasha Kaguda, and his accomplices, Tinotenda Chivizhe and Terrence Nyasha Mugocha, were granted US$200 bail each by Justice Lucy Mungwari.

The court heard that on November 2, the three who were driving in a Toyota Duet, when they picked up a sex worker, Mitchell Muranda.

They drove to a joint in the city centre where Chivizhe had sex with Muranda.

A misunderstanding arose between Muranda and Chivizhe over the amount paid. 

Muranda also claimed that her money had gone missing.

She told her colleagues back in the Avenues that her money had been stolen by the trio when they went to drop her.

Muranda and her colleagues hired a cab and went after the trio.

The trio stopped along Sixth Street and a man disembarked and tried to turn off the ignition, but the car took off while he was hanging with his head inside the vehicle.

The student and his accomplices hit the man with a bottle on the head and stabbed him on the neck.

He fell off and died along Samora Machel Avenue.
