RENOWNED medical doctor and member of Presidential Advisory Council, Dr Godfrey Gwaze Sikipa, has died.
Dr Sikipa died on May 5, 2025 in Virginia, United States after battling cancer for almost two decades.
The death of Dr Sikipa was confirmed by his eldest son, Tapiwa, in a statement.
“It is with great sadness that we share the sad news of Dr Godfrey Gwaze Sikipa who passed away on May 5, 2025 in Virginia, USA, surrounded by family and friends,” said Tapiwa.
“While his loss is deeply felt by his family, he had battled cancer for the best part of 20 years and he had fought a good fight.
“His loss will also be acutely felt by all his friends and colleagues in the health field everywhere in Zimbabwe and globally.”
Dr Sikipa once served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
He was also the head of Africa Health International, head of AIDS at the World Health Organisation and chairman of Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and Presidential Advisor on Heath 2018 – 2023.
Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
Dr Sikipa is survived by wife Dolly and children Tapiwa, Shingayi, Rufaro and Farai and grandchildren.
