Repairing of Rwenya Bridge to commence soon

Victor Maphosa in Nyamapanda
Plans to repair the Rwenya Bridge in Nyamapanda are at an advanced stage with the contractor expected to be on-site in a few weeks to come.

The bridge which links Mashonaland East and Manicaland Provinces was damaged by Cyclone Eline in 2013.

The massive damage then crippled service delivery and easy access to critical resources like health facilities and education for the communities in both provinces

Today Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona visited the damaged bridge to have an appreciation of the extent of the damage ahead of the repairing works. Minister Mhona said besides repairing Rwenya Bridge, his Ministry will also rehabilitate the famous Rwenya-Nyamapanda road which was damaged by heavy rains this past season.

Minister Mhona was accompanied by Mashonaland East Minister of Provincial Affairs and Devolution Senator Aplonia Munzverengwi and other senior Government officials from Mashonaland East Province.
