Reprieve for motorists as Zinara rolls out mega promotions

Motorists across the country will enjoy a one-off reprieve as the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) will be rolling out promotions at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, underway since Monday.

Under the promotions, motorists saddled with outstanding arrears will enjoy a 50 percent discount on their penalties only, while senior citizens will have their penalties completely waived, giving elderly drivers a chance to regularise their vehicles at no cost.

Furthermore, Zinara has also introduced a payment plan for deregistered vehicles, which will be available exclusively at Zinara licensing offices during the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show period, which runs until Saturday.

This will allow motorists to enter structured repayment arrangements, making it easier for them to bring back their vehicles in the licensing system.

To bring convenience to the motoring public and to ease pressure at the Zinara stand at the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, the penalty discount promotion has been decrentralised to Zinara’s wide network of agents across the country.

In a statement on Tuesday, Zinara said the promotions were aimed at encouraging compliance with licensing regulations.

Zinara added that the initiative is also in response to numerous concerns from the motoring public, many of whom had accumulated large arrears over the years due to financial challenges.

“We heard the concerns of motorists who have been approaching us, raising concerns over their ballooning arrears and penalties,” it said.

“We want to give them a fair chance to comply and to contribute to the national road development agenda.

“Our objective is not to punish our motoring public but to help them to comply with the law and also to respond to the realities faced by our stakeholders.”
