Some of the major projects that the council had failed to undertake for the past four years include the Mucheke footbridge that links the sprawling suburb of Rujeko and the city centre.
The council had also failed to construct a secondary school in the same suburb while a traffic circle along the Masvingo-Beitbridge highway also lay incomplete despite numerous promises.
“I don’t want to say the mayor (Alderman Femius Chakabuda) is running away from his shadows but the truth of the matter is that the mayor together with his fellow councillors are not taking us residents seriously,” said Thomas Mbetu, an official of Murra.
“We are not happy that there are many projects that this council undertook to complete when they got into office about five years ago but very few, if any, have been completed.”
Murra chairman Mr Aison Pfere said residents also accused the council of failing to put to good use the US$4 per household water levy which was charged for six months ostensibly to fund the city’s water augmentation project which is yet to take shape.
