ALL is set for the premiere of The Return of Gringo series at Ster-Kinekor, Joina City, in Harare’s CBD today.
Taurai “Gringaldino” Boora, the son of the late veteran actor, Lazarus “Gringo” Boora, recently combined forces with Gweshe Gweshe, Mbudziyadhura and Chati Butao, to revive the drama series ‘Gringo’.
The series was penned by Enock Chihombori. Since the death of Gringo, his son has been trying to keep his legacy alive.
In an interview with H-Metro, Mudziyadhura who is part of the cast, said:
“It is an honour and God’s grace, having worked with the late Lazarus Boora for many years.
“I never imagined that I would also work with his son after his death.
“I am happy that his legacy is still living on.
“When you look at Taurai Boora, he has his fathers’ features, which is an advantage.
“It is just a journey that is beginning, I know that he will eventually fit into his fathers’ shoes.
“I will try, wherever I can, to help him.”
Chati, who is also part of the production, said:
“I know people will compare the drama ‘Gringo the Trouble Maker,’ but what is important is that the legacy of Gringo is alive,” he said
Darlington Mutsvairi, from Darlington Media, which was responsible for the production, said:
“The story is a creation by Enock Chihombori and I believe the inspiration comes from the previous productions of GRINGO.
“The son proved he can fit into his father’s shoes in the previous productions that we did like ‘Gringo Back From SA,’ which was running on social media platforms.
“Gringo is a brand that has been a household name for quite some time and the fans still need more of this production.
“There are 13 episodes but, for the purpose of premiere, only three episodes will be screened at Ster-Kinekor, Joina City.
“Definitely, we will have a tour of the whole country, to stamp the return of Gringo but we are yet to set dates for the tour.
“It will be on TV, probably every television station that is willing to work with us.
“So far, we already have some inquiries from some TV stations.”
