GWERU-based side Rise of Hope Academy has withdrawn from the Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League, citing financial challenges.

The withdrawal is with immediate effect.

In a letter written by the Gweru-based side secretary general Benson Chiguri to ZWPSL chairperson, Chido Chizondo, the club said: “We write to formally notify you of our club’s withdrawal from the Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League with immediate effect.”

“This decision has not been easy for us as a club.

“However, due to financial challenges and failure to secure sponsorship despite our efforts, we are now incapacitated to continue fulfilling our league obligations for the remainder of the season,” said Chiguri.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the league, sponsors, match officials, fellow clubs, and supporters for the opportunity to participate in the competition.

“Our involvement in the league has contributed greatly to the development of our players and women’s football at large,” he said.
