Rising star Anitah Dube steps into the spotlight

Up-and-coming musician, Anitah Dube, has officially marked her entry into the professional music scene by securing second place in the inaugural season of the Bulawayo Got Talent (BGT) competition.

Anitah’s powerful voice and soothing vocals captivated the audience at the finale held last month at the Bulawayo Centre, earning her recognition as a promising talent.

Performing under her moniker, Anitah, she focuses on gospel and love songs.

She attributes her musical journey to her late father, who was a creative force in Bulawayo’s arts scene. She also draws inspiration from her twin sister, Annabella, and the late Cont Mhlanga.

“I started singing when I was five years old, inspired by my late father, RR Given Dube. He was an actor who featured in plays like Kings Kraal, Yeyeni Bantu and Suku. He was also a comedian, working with legends like Omkula, a karate master, a scriptwriter, and a musician,” shared Anitah.

Anitah’s goal is to touch lives through her music.

“My dream is to reach out to broken-hearted souls and heal them through my music. I want to transform, inspire and uplift young women like me,” she said.

Though still in the early stages of her career, Anitah is determined to make her mark in the industry.

“My professional journey begins now, and I’m eager to learn and grow. While I haven’t started any personal projects yet, being one of the first BGT winners is a great honour. However, I feel I didn’t give my all, and there’s so much more I can do,” said Anitah.

She added, “My future plans include starting my own recording studio, learning how to play instruments and ultimately raising the Zimbabwean flag high.” — @mthabisi_mthire
