MUTASA Rural District Council (MRDC) is making significant strides under the second phase of Government’s Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP) as part of intensified efforts to improve the road network in the area.
The local authority said work was in full gear and revealed that it was now 65 percent to completion.
MRDC civil works technician, Mr Owen Chimhowa, hailed Government for its sustained efforts in rehabilitating and building new key infrastructure to spur the country’s development.
“Most of the contractors are now on site and work is progressing well. However, some did not start on time and that explains the delays in completion.
“So far, the works have been carried out to expected and satisfactory standards as we are now 65 percent to completion,” said Mr Chimhowa.
Mr Chimhowa said some of the challenges the contractors are facing include equipment breakdowns.
Under National Development Strategy (NDS) 1, Government has committed to building and maintaining or repairing existing infrastructure and utilities.
