Hardlife Nheya (23), who is of no fixed abode, was convicted on his own plea.
He was facing two charges of robbery.
Ms Gwinth Drawo presided over the case.
Ms Drawo had sentenced Nheya to three years in jail but suspended one year for five years on condition he does not commit a similar offence.
Nheya was, however, slapped with an additional 60 days imprisonment for possessing four twists of mbanje at the time of his arrest.
Charges are that on April 26, the victim was on his way to consult a prophet in a bushy area.
He was confronted by Nheya and his accomplices. The former is said to have produced a knife and ordered him to remove his trousers.
He was robbed of a cellphone, R50 and trousers before they disappeared.
The trio also robbed a security guard of a cellphone worth US$200 and fled.
Both cases were reported to the police, leading to Nheya’s arrest in Beitbridge when he was spotted wearing the stolen trousers.
Police also recovered the cellphone.
