Robbers arrested after one is found wearing stolen shoes in Epworth

A robber was arrested after he was caught wearing a pair of shoes stolen from a complainant near the Mabvuku turn off on September 19, 2025..

The suspect, Francis Kunaya (27), was caught in Epworth and led police to the arrest of his accomplice, Thompson Pembedzo (25).

Investigations established that the suspects robbed the complainant of his cellphone, shoes and a national identification card after offering him a lift.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “On September 20, 2025, police in Harare arrested Francis Kunaya, aged 27 and Thompson Pembedzo, aged 25, in connection with a case of robbery which occurred at Mabvuku Turn-off on September 19, 2025.

“The suspects allegedly gave the complainant a lift to Mabvuku before attacking him and stealing a cellphone, a pair of shoes and a national ID card.

“The suspects dumped the complainant near Old Shamva Road along Mutoko-Harare Road. On September 20, 2025, Francis Kunaya was found wearing the stolen shoes at Solani Shopping Centre, Epworth, leading to his arrest. Francis Kunaya implicated Thompson Pembedzo as his accomplice.”
