A MAN is fighting for his life at Parirenyatwa Hospital after being attacked by a group of seven men who robbed him and chopped off his left foot.

The incident occurred at Matereke shopping centre in Chinhoyi last week when Collen Frank (48) was returning from a beer drink.

The attackers used an unknown sharp object to sever his foot before taking US$400 and his cellphone.

Frank was rushed to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital and later transferred to Parirenyatwa Hospital where he is currently in a serious condition.

The police have urged members of the public not to carry large sums of money to avoid attracting criminals.

Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Margret Chitove, said:

“They cut off his left foot using an unknown sharp object. They took US$400 and his cellphone and fled, leaving him lying helplessly on the ground bleeding.”
