THREE notorious robbers who recently broke into shops and bottle stores in Gutu and Zaka in the dead of the night have each been sent to jail for 12 years.Edmore Tawodzera (36) and Dzingai Mutete (30), both of Mkoba 18 in Gweru, and Sovert Chakoromoka (23) of Unit P in Chitungwiza were convicted of two counts of robbery on their own plea of guilty when they appeared before Gutu resident magistrate Mr Nyasha Vitorini.

Agreed facts are that between 10 and 14 August this year, the three who were driving around in a Honda Fiat vehicle went to several bottle stores in Gutu and Zaka where they would use iron bars to break into shops and bottle stores in the dead of the night.

The three stole various items such as cigarette boxes, whisky bottles and cash amounting to over US$5 000.  At Chisheche business centre, the three severely assaulted a bar tender at Hwekwete night club with an iron bar as they were forcing her to give them cash for the night’s sales.

After the commission of the offences the three drove to Jerera Growth Point in Zaka on August 15 this year where they were nabbed by police detectives.
