Robber’s month-long reign of terror ends with 102-year prison sentence

A 35-YEAR-OLD man has been sentenced to 102 years behind bars for a string of violent crimes, including attempted murder and armed robbery.
Tapiwa Mbirimi unleashed a campaign of violence on Savanhu and Chitungwiza, armed with a gun, machete, and iron bar. He shot people and robbed them of cellphones and cash in January 2023.
In an official statement on X, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe confirmed his 102-year prison sentence.
“His reign of terror included: Attempted Murder. Shooting a victim with a pistol.
“Armed Robbery: Robbing multiple individuals, stealing cash, cellphones and other valuables,” read the statement.
