Robbers steal US$111 000, ZAR1 million disguised as security guards

FIVE suspected robbers disguised as security guards escaped with at least US$111 411 and ZAR1 281 320 after they pounced on a security company’s premises in Chipinge on Wednesday.

In a statement on Thursday, the Zimbabwe Republic Police said the suspects hijacked the security company’s patrol vehicle and used it to commit the alleged crime.

“Five unknown suspects intercepted the company’s patrol vehicle in Chipinge town before attacking the driver and his colleague and forcing them to remove their uniforms,” said the police.

“The suspects wore the uniforms and drove the vehicle to the security company’s premises where they attacked the other security guards before stealing US$ 111 411 and ZAR 1 281 320.

“Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.”
