ROBBERS USE EXPLOSIVES TO BLOW UP SCHOOL, STEAL LAPTOPS

ABOUT 26 laptops were stolen at Chemukute Secondary School at Cam and Motor Mine near Kadoma with the robbers using dynamite to blow up the school.

The school suffered substantial damage.

Six classrooms and the library were severely affected by the fire.

It’s very likely the robbers were also targeting money as the raid coincided with the days when students would have paid their fees for the new term.

No comment could be obtained from the police but the use of explosives is very common in the area where there is a lot of artisanal mining activity.

Sources, who spoke to H-Metro, said:

“Explosives were used to destroy the classrooms.

“Robbers broke into the office and used explosives to blow the rooms after they took laptops and tracksuits.

“They set alight the office and the fire engulfed the library together with six classrooms.”
