Robbery suspect caught after 3 years

AN armed robbery suspect, accused of attacking a man at his residence in May 2022, leaving him unconscious, and fleeing with his white Nissan Caravan, has finally been brought to justice after evading capture for three years.

Trevor Tazvitya (27) appeared before Harare regional magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei on Saturday, facing charges of motor vehicle robbery.

His bail application is set to be heard on Wednesday.

According to prosecutor Mr Ngoni Kaseke, on May 13, 2022, around 10.30pm Tazvitya and an accomplice, who remains at large, allegedly planned to rob the victim and ambushed him outside the gate to his residence.

The complainant had parked his white Nissan Caravan outside his gate and stepped out of the vehicle to open the gate, leaving the engine running and the keys in the ignition.

It was at this moment that Tazvitya and his accomplice emerged from the darkness and attacked him.

The court heard that the assailants struck the complainant on the upper left ear with an unknown object, causing him to collapse and lose consciousness.

The robbers then stole the vehicle and fled to an unknown location.
