Robbery syndicate bust, $14k goods recovered

POLICE have recovered property worth $14,000 and arrested two suspects in connection with a spate of robberies in the city.
The two suspects Mduduzi Ngwenya, 34, of 585 Matshobane and Sothani Perfect Mudenda, 32, of K125 Njube in Bulawayo, were arrested by CID Hillside detectives on April 4 after a tip-off from members of the public.
The suspects were arrested after they were involved in a series of thefts from March 2013 and April this year.

Ngwenya was arrested in Matshobane where he resides while Mudenda was arrested in Makokoba.
The stolen property was found in Makokoba, central business district and as far as Binga.

Acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Abednico Ncube said the two suspects appeared in court on April 8 and pleaded guilty to the 17 counts of unlawful entry.

They are set for sentencing tomorrow.
Asst Insp Ncube said property worth $7,000 had been identified by the 17 victims of theft and unlawful entry.

He said that most affected people came from Selbourne Park while Barham Green, Hillside, Burnside, Riverside, Matsheumhlope, Sunninghill also had complaints.  “We are still holding property that was stolen by the arrested suspects. We ask the victims to come forward and identify their property at CID Hillside. The property worth $6,000 includes refrigerators, plasma TVs, car batteries, radios, wheels and an empty 200 litre drum” said Asst Insp Ncube.

He urged members of the public to report or inform the police with information leading to the eradication of criminals in the society.
“I urge everyone to report any suspected case of theft or any crime so that we can achieve a crime free environment. Members of the CID are professional they can protect the identity of whistleblowers so people should not be afraid to come forward and report,” he said.
