Robbery trio remanded in custody

Court Correspondent
THREE suspected robbers appeared in court last Thursday charged with robbing a man of cash and valuables worth $362. Trymore Dzingai (26), Talent Maphosa (25) and Edmore Rukwesa (19) appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mabwe. They were remanded in custody to May 19. The trio was advised to seek bail at the High Court. Mr Mahwe said the suspects were facing a serious offence and could abscond trial if granted bail.

Allegations are that on May 2 at around 3am in Overspill, Epworth, Tatenda Zacharia (23) was on his way home from shops. He saw a commuter omnibus.

The trio disembarked from commuter omnibus and followed Zacharia. They grabbed Zacharia by the neck and searched him. They went away with $276, two mobile phones and his identity card.

Nothing was recovered.
