A Harare magistrate has cancelled the warrant of arrest issued against Robert Tinotenda Mugabe, the son of the late former President Robert Mugabe, after he failed to appear in court for his scheduled routine remand.

Mugabe, who is out on bail, voluntarily presented himself to the court on Friday accompanied by his lawyer, Mr Arshiel Mugiya.

Magistrate Artwell Sanyatwe imposed a fine of US$30 for his failure to attend court as scheduled on Thursday and ordered him to return on November 13 for the commencement of his trial.

Mugabe was arrested last month during a police traffic operation while driving against traffic on a one-way stretch of Second Street Extension (Sam Nujoma Extension Street) on n Harare.

When police stopped him they allegedly found two sachets of dagga, a pack of rizla rolling papers, and a dagga crusher in his sling bag.

The drugs, weighing two grammes and valued at US$30, were verified.

The charges against Mugabe include unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.
