Alexandra took first place and walked away with a floating trophy and a gold medal, while the visitors’ Gweru Bowling Club settled for second place and took home a silver medal.
The hosts Highlands pairs lost to Borrowdale Country Club 15-17.
Alexandra also proved strong in the women Pairs’ category.
The Alexandra pair of Allyson Dale and Heather Singleton took first place as they got 10 points while Highlands came second with eight points.
Alexandra B team settled for the third place with six points.
In the Trips , Avondale men’s trips were on top with 12 points, with a shot difference of 48, while Highlands also got 12 points but with a shot difference of 27 and took second place.
Third place went to Hillside of Bulawayo who got seven points.
Alexandra also proved strong in the women Trips were Alexandra B recorded 11 points and got a gold medal and a trophy while the mainstream Alexandra team got 10 points and took the silver medal.
The Bulawayo combined team took third place with eight points and walked away with bronze.
Alexandra bowler, Dale, said she was pleased with how things turned out at the tournament.
“I was happy with the tournament, I really enjoyed and it was good to see all the outside provinces taking part.
“Last year I was part of the Alex ladies that won the Fours and Trips so it was good to get two wins again,” said Dale.
The last day of the ‘Nationals’ tournament will be tomorrow at Highlands Sports Club.
City Bowling Club player, Aaron Chilundo, the youngest bowler at the tournament, said he was honoured just to be taking part.
“This is my second time and I have really improved although I did not win the pairs but the experience was amazing.
“We were almost there but we lost by one shot to get to the semi-final,’’ said Chilundo.
