A SCHOOL girl has been repeatedly raped by her college principal for the past THREE YEARS.
The sexual attacks were conducted in the principal’s office.
He threatened to expel her from the college if she disclosed the sexual attacks which are said to have started when she was 13, in September 2021.
The abuse of the girl, 16, came to light on Monday.
Ironically, the principal, Onias Makarimai, 25, had tried to expose her affair with another man to her mother.
Makarimai was reported to be feeling jealous seeing the student in the company of another man.
When he reported the girl to her mother, the case changed when his sexual attacks were exposed.
Makarimai was arrested on Monday and is expected to appear in court today.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest.
“Police arrested a college principal based in Hatcliffe for raping one of the female students,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The accused person proposed love to the complainant but he was turned down.
“Whilst in the accused person’s office, the accused turned on loud music, made sexual advances towards the complainant, started caressing, touching her body and raped her sometime in September 2021.
“Since that day in 2021, up to year 2024, the accused, on different occasions and times, would summon complainant to his office and rape her.
“In all these occasions the complainant did not tell anyone since the accused had instilled fear that he would beat her and expel her from the school.
“The matter came to light on (Friday) when the accused person sent a text message to the complainant’s mother that she should closely monitor the complainant’s behaviour and told her that the complainant is having an affair with someone.
“This prompted the complainant’s mother to question her.
“Complainant then later revealed what had been happening to her parents, leading to the arrest.”
