URBAN grooves artiste Roki – real name Rockford Josphat – seems to be getting back on track if the response of his new album is anything to go by. The musician who has been tagged “Bad Boy” because of his sometimes-wayward behaviour, launched the album “Rockford Gold” that is doing well on local charts.“When we released the album it did not get that much hype but later on people started to appreciate it,” he said.

Roki who has been doing shows around the country said he will soon embark on a national tour promoting the new material.

“We are having as many shows as we can to promote the new album. Things are taking shape and we are hoping that by August we will meet the target,” he said.

For him local shows were also crucial as he has time to meet with his fans here in Harare.

Tonight the musician graces a clash between dancers Beverly Sibanda, Chocolate and Lady Storm at Private Lounge. Show organisers said they were happy that Roki will come as guest performer at the event.

Joe Mentro who is the organiser said it was good that the “Chidzoka” hit-maker would come for such a show.

“The three dancers have their show and the coming in of Roki makes the whole thing interesting. We know he will be performing songs from his new album that is fast gaining ground,” he said.

He said it was good that their venue was hosting several artists.

“Since the opening of this place several artists have the chance to showcase their talents.

“This show gives yet another chance for patrons to meet with their favourite dancers as well as Roki,” he said.
