The Road to Fame show is an annual event and has seen artistes such as Ngoni Kambarami, Winky D, Stunner, PoZee, Sku, Otis Ngwabi and Sandra Ndebele, among others perform at the show.
In an interview yesterday, Hustlers Leisure Centre entertainment manager Simon Gama said the show was a platform for up-and-coming urban grooves artistes to showcase their talent with established artistes like Roki giving it some much needed experience.
He said Roki would be performing with a live band and local urban groove artistes were registering to perform.
“Roki will be performing with a live band and this will be his first gig in the city after coming from Big Brother.
“Local artistes are still registering and people like Centre Party, Maskiri, PoZee and POY have said they will come,” said Gama.
He urged local artistes to come in their numbers as this was an opportunity for them to showcase their talent.
Roki’s manager, Bybite Areketa said: “Roki is coming and promises fans a show to remember. This time he will be using a live band to back him instead of a CD. Roki is still preparing the songs he will perform and fans should come to the show,” said Areketa.
She said Roki would come to Bulawayo in the morning.
Fans who spoke to Chronicle Entertainment said they wanted to see how Roki was going to churn out his tunes using a live band.
“We want to see how urban grooves can use live bands and have the same effect as they do when they are using the CDs. This will be interesting to see,” said Katherine Sithole.
She said urban grooves artistes in Bulawayo should seize the opportunity to also showcase their talent at the event.
Road to Fame was launched in 2003 and was won by Otis Ngwabi that year. Roki has won it three times.
