FORMER Big Brother 2012 housemate, Rockford “Roki” Josphat, is expected to kick-start Zvishavane’s festive season celebrations when he performs at Club Down Town in the mining town tomorrow.
The show is a dress rehearsal for the Zvishavane Shutdown gig scheduled for next week as the town prepares to welcome 2014 in style.
Club Down Town owner Jabu Magidivana said fans would be afforded a chance to meet the artiste and his band at Siboza Leisure Centre tomorrow afternoon.

“We want to build an air of excitement in Zvishavane and whenever we bring artistes, we want fans to get a chance to know them and take pictures with them,” he said.

Club Down Town entertainment manager Admire Morrison concurred with his boss, saying they had lined up a number of shows for their regular patrons.

“It’s time for us to thank our loyal clients that have stood by us throughout this year. We have lined up a number of gigs, beginning with this weekend until the end of the year. We are bringing to Zvishavane some top artistes such as South African-based Oskido, local Sulumani Chimbetu and Winky Dee,” he said.

Morrison said fans should expect top-notch entertainment this festive season and encouraged them to support the gig by coming in large numbers.

“We will be holding big shows for them and all we ask from them is their support. Let’s all come together and welcome 2014 in style,” he said.

Meanwhile, Club Down Town will today host a Bosses and Divas night gig where prizes will be given to patrons based on how many friends one brings.

“In preparation for Roki’s show, we will host a ‘bring a friend’ Bosses and Divas show. There will be prizes for everyone who brings friends. This show is meant to encourage residents to come out and enjoy themselves this festive season,” he said.

Roki is a contemporary musician who has branched into acting recently. Born in Madagascar, Roki made his debut in 2001 after releasing hits such as Seiko featuring Leonard Mapfumo and Suzanna.

In 2003, he won “The Most Promising Artist of the Year Award” through the prestigious National Arts Merit Awards of Zimbabwe (NAMA).

His phenomenal hit song Chidzoka won best video of the year and song of the year in 2007.
