Romance boundaries, adult kids and vehicular swimmers

I believe by the time you read this our gallant Warriors would be back home and watching the ongoing Afcon on television like the rest of us, and receiving Warriors WhatsApp jokes like many of us. They are not the only ones that have been displaced, come to think of it! The defending champions are back home too. The President of the US was also replaced recently, and like the Warriors, he must be adjusting to a new life.

At least the weather has been kind, what with the rains and the excellent humidity that our boys were now used to in Gabon! I really have nothing to say about the Warriors since you saw them in action. It so transpired, they perspired and expired. Thumbs up for the show, I believe with enough practice matches no one can stop us.

It is my hope that they also made useful relationships in Gabon, apart from the souvenirs that they must have got some time to acquire. It leaves me wondering what would be the point of getting a passport that allows you to cross borders if you are not allowed to invest across those borders, financially or even emotionally. I was taken aback to learn that the Zambian police chief has banned that countryas police force from marrying foreign women.

Operation Declare Spouse.! It was not immediately clear if the policewomen were exempt from that proclamation.

We live in interesting times where romance now has boundaries. So my sister, next time you win the attention of a Zambian brother, or have any reason to believe the brother has a Zambian accent, please seek clarity on nationality and profession since he could have constitutional reasons for not taking your relationship to the next level.

I am still not convinced that Zimbabweans can be considered foreigners in Zambia, and vice versa. You see before, during and after the war there was so much traffic between the two countries there are some Zambians in Zimbabwe who believe they are Zimbabweans and Zimbabweans in Zambia who swear to be Zambian.A I will not stretch this comparison to the US and Mexico, where President Trump wants to build a wall separating the two countries. From legal barriers to physical barriers in the so-called free world or is it Tweet world!

I stumbled on some stuff on Mexico and it reminded me of our school days. There was nothing as scary during those days as the school bell ringing when you were not ready for school or even a kilometre away.A Of course there were gates where prefects would be deployed and where the headmasters were quite zealous, you would find them by the school gate, jotting down the names of late comers. Various forms of punishment awaited such pupils that tended to over-enjoy their sleep. Not in Mexico, however.

In Mexico pupils are now being searched thoroughly for dangerous weapons after some pupil shot his mates recently. They run the risk of delaying assembly, and even lessons, due to the thorough searches at the gate. I am imagining what you would have found in our plastic bags (read school bags) back then. Things like home-made buns, igwadla (boiled corn) and whatever fruit was in season would be found in our bags, and possibly one or two love letters still to be delivered as the writer was still mastering courage to play postman.

And the children are growing pretty quickly nowadays. Ask old men in their 60s and above what a threesome is, you would probably get answers like a span of three oxen or some reference to the trinity! If you ask todayas kindergarten children, they would probably know. How else can you explain the actions of the 15-year-old boy from Harare who hired a prostitute at a club after stealing $3 000 from his father. The boy was so loaded, he sought a threesome but later decided to get just one woman that he ended up staying with for days as they chomped the money.

And for those that have been out of the country for a while; for whatever reason, it has been raining heavily in Zimbabwe and heavier rains are still forecast. We have seen quite a stream of disturbing videos of people attempting to cross flooded rivers. People should just stay off the water, after all many of these guys attempting to drive across rivers cannot even swim in their bath tubs!A Still on the floods and safety tip, we also need to build homes far from rivers, lest they are swept away and you discover you actually built your home in a river but did not know because it had never rained heavily!
