A MAN has been battling to deal with his three marriages, including one with a woman who is based in Canada, whom he fooled to believe that he was single at the time of their marriage.
Mudavanhu Sanyika’s love triangle came to light recently.
Sanyika paid lobola for Magdalene Sharara in 2022.
What Magdalene did not know was that Sanyika already was already married to Divine Furusa. They were married at the Harare Magistrates’ Court on March 16, 2018.
The wedding was solemnised at the Church of Christ in Avondale.
On September 9, 2022, Sanyika wedded Magdalene.
He gave an impression that he was a bachelor.
Divine later knew about the second marriage and sued Sanyika for bigamy.
The case was heard at the High Court in Harare. According to the records in our possession, Sanyika was summoned on June 12, last year, to face bigamy charges.
“Records at the Marriage Registry seem to indicate that Sanyika Mudavanhu contracted a second marriage while the first marriage still subsisted.
“In view of the above please report to the Marriage Registry,” read the documents.
Sanyika decided to divorce Divine and stayed with Magdalene.
Then, he married a third woman.
Contacted for comment, Sanyika was not responding to questions put to him.
Magdalene said:
“I am not in a position to comment, I am a victim here.”
Sources told H-Metro Magdalene was looking for Sanyika.
“Magdalene stays in Canada and they were in the process of finalising Sanyika’s papers so that he would follow her there.
“But, he disappeared from their home to stay with another woman, with whom he has a two-year-old child.
“Magdalene came to Zimbabwe in August 2022 and that was the time Sanyika’s first wife, Divine, found out about their relationship.
“Since they had a wedding, she filed for bigamy at the High Court.
“She argued that he had wedded while he had another wedding which was subsisting,” said a source.
The source added:
“So, the High Court case nullified Sanyika’s wedding with Magdalene, since they got married while another marriage subsisted.
“Interestingly, Magdalene paid for all the legal costs.
