ROTARACT Club of Matopos is hosting a drug awareness campaign today at Cilas Conference Centre in Bulawayo to fight the drug menace in the city.
The projects chair, Frank Chirisa said the goal of the event is to tackle issues of drug abuse in the country.“Drug awareness is one of the club’s seven areas of focus. Today we have an expert, Doctor Gambetta Camilo Da Costa who owns rehabs in India coming through to be the main speaker. We are trying to get knowledge on how we can tackle the drug pandemic and we want to get all the educational tools needed to deal with this challenge. We are calling upon the youth from Bulawayo to be part of this event,” said Chirisa.
He said there were a number of speakers lined up for the event that entail entrepreneurs, comedians and musicians.
“We will have different speakers lined up for the event that entail a banker and investor Stanley Marchon, a musician Varun Carvallo, an entrepreneur Joanah Mandemwa and we will have special performances from Absoll Luz and Sisa,” he said.
Chirisa said Rotaract is involved in a number of projects for the betterment of the community.
“As Rotaract, we conduct several projects around the community that seek to make the community a better place. This is our first drug awareness campaign as a club. We had a mental health soccer tournament earlier this year, clothes donation and cleanup campaigns,” he said.
