Rotarians challenged to assist communities

Sunday Mail Reporter

Rotarians need to use their knowledge and skills to solve challenges in their communities, according to the recently elected Rotary Club of Highlands president, Ms Carolyn Chipunha.

In her induction speech, she noted that the input of rotarians is needed now more than ever because of the increased challenges the world is currently facing.

“We do need team spirit and effort in imagining how best we can fulfil service above self. Let us share our time, talents and resources to make our club fun through having more activities.

“We also need to increase our impact in our community that we live in,” said Ms Chipunha, whose leadership will run from 2022 to 2023.

“The mental concept needs to be transformed into reality for the community to feel and touch or experience the pleasure of our imagining so that we become result-oriented and relevant.”

She implored members to demonstrate values of the Rotary Club.

“Due to the increase in economic, health and disaster issues, the world needs us now, not later.

“Let us demonstrate the value or relevance of Rotary by our engagement in activities that we plan to do for the year — engagement of all members.”

This year’s theme for Rotarians is “Imagine Rotary”.
