ARMED robber Roy Mutemagazi, known in his criminal circles as Rototo, has implicated another man he committed a spate of robberies.
The gang operated in and around Harare.
Lazarus Chinobhururuka of Chitungwiza was hauled to court over the weekend charged with armed robbery.
The State said on June 10, the first complainant, Ramson Singano and his wife, Rumbidzai, his pastor, Mrs Runatsa, church elder, Pamela Bwana, and his two kids, arrived home.
As Ramson was locking the door, Chinobhururuka, Mutemagazi and others still on the run, who were armed with a pistol, iron bar and hammer, pounced on him.
They ordered everyone in the house to sit down and took their phones and other belongings.
They demanded money and Ramson directed them to his bedroom where they took US$120.
They kept on demanding more money and his wife surrendered US$400 she had in her bag.
They went on to steal a laptop and Ramson’s wallet, which contained his national ID card, driver’s licence, bank cards, office safe keys and a nine-carat wedding ring.
They tied them together with shoelaces and fled from the house using his car, which they dumped a few metres away from the house.
On the second count, the court heard that Chinobhururuka and his gang robbed Mark Mandiyanike.
The gang broke into Mark’s house at around 1am while he was asleep.
They manhandled him in his bedroom and demanded cash and valuables.
Mark’s wife surrendered US$1 200, which was in the wardrobe.
The gang ransacked the house and took a wallet containing US$1 200, bank cards and a driver’s licence.
On June 15, the gang allegedly robbed Emma Mtandwa and her family, and got away with more than US$8 000 in cash.
