KART Sport Club welcomes back a busy paddock this Sunday, June 9 for Round 3 of the club’s championship and the prestigious ROK Cup Zimbabwe series at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.

In what promises to be a very busy day for all the drivers as the season reaches the halfway mark, the action out on track is expected to reach another level.

In the Rotax 125 Class, championship protagonists, Zaydaan Savania and Jaedon Masiyanise, will once again pick up the challenge to see who will take the top step of the winner’s podium.

However, Yeftac Sivan, back from university on vacation, will certainly be in the mix after winning several races last year.

All these three drivers are racing the fastest karts in Zimbabwe which reach speeds of close to 100kph at this fantastic 820 metre kart circuit at the National Sports Stadium.

Several new members will also be venturing out on the track for their first outing in this class, including brother and sister combo Zayyan and Deanna Savania and well-known ProKart racer Colin Botha who moved up to this class after racing Prokarts for the past year

Full-throttle racing action and close competition, a hallmark of the ROK classes, will again see the club’s young guns fight for overall honours.

In the Kid ROK class for drivers from 6 – 9 years old, Rayyan Savania and Zack Staples head into this round leading the championship on equal points with Blessing Shamu expected to challenge the two championship leaders.

The younger drivers in this class Sheanesu Shambare, Manuel Mukori, and newcomer Jake Edwards are honing their skills and ready to take advantage of any mishaps up front.

The very competitive Mini ROK Class for older drivers from 8 – 13 years will likely be thrilling. Yaseen Savania, Seth Rukato, and Eli Pilosoff were separated by only 0.1 seconds at the last meetings qualifying and provided some exceptional racing with the grandstands echoing to cheers of excitement.

More of the same is expected on Sunday with both Rukato and Pilosoof determined to chase for the win.

Tawana Shambare is also expected to be back in the mix after missing the last round with 2023 Kid Rok Champion Devin Van de Linde, Matthew Mukori, and Eshaan Savania all keen to prove their pedigree in the same class

The ever-popular Pole Position ProKart Class has a full grid entered and promises some of the most tightly-contested racing of the day.

With several new drivers entering the class, previous winner Moe Moosa faces new challenges from a chasing pack who are very keen to topple him off the top position. Kevin Dufty, track proprietor of the Pole Position Karts track at the national sports stadium said: “Part of our aim for the new track was to offer a world-class karting facility to members and competitors and we continue to maintain and develop the facility to achieve those aims.

“In addition, we always wanted to offer an intermediate stage between recreational and race karts to reach a new pool of drivers and talent.

“To this end, our Sodi Prokarts were introduced this year to fill that void and we believe that this series will help widen the base of the pyramid for grassroots motorsport and help develop karting in Zimbabwe.” Race day this Sunday is at Pole Position Karts at the National Sports Stadium track with racing starting from 10am. Entry $5 fee is with children under 10 getting in for free.
