The ninth edition of the Routes Africa Summit kicks off tomorrow in the resort town of Victoria Falls, amid expectations that it will widen accessibility to airlines and tourism facilities to communities.
The summit, expected to bring together leading airports, airlines, tourism authorities, policy makers and aviation stakeholders to develop new air services to, from and within Africa, runs from June 22 to 24.
Event organisers said Victoria Falls would offer a spectacular backdrop to Routes Africa for stakeholders to do business and plan for the future.
“The competition for air services and the economic benefits they bring has never been greater and airports are presenting their market to airlines in ever more creative and innovative ways,” event organisers said.
“With the development of Africa and their infrastructure, economic stability and aviation routes, the dialogue between airlines and airports is extremely important.”
Vice President Joice Mujuru is expected to open the forum which offers a unique platform on airline routes development in Africa.
More than 500 delegates are expected to attend the event, representing 40 leading airlines, 50 airports and 15 tourism authorities.
The forum comes after Zimbabwe received the World’s Best Tourism Destination and the Favourite Cultural Destination for 2014 award from the European Council on Tourism and Trade.
