A ROW over playing of gospel songs in a bottlestore led to a stabbing spree in which a man was killed while three others ended up in hospital.

A 30-year-old man from Ruwa was stabbed to death on Thursday.

This followed a dispute over gospel songs which were being played at a bottle store in Solomio Park.

Tendai Mubiya was allegedly stabbed once on the neck with a knife by Trymore Ndebele, 35.

The bar owner, Luckmore Kazingizi, 28, sustained a deep cut on the left side of the chest, while his friend, Collen Tomu, 30, suffered a deep cut on the back.

Trymore was in the company of his friend Peace Dube, 25.

The injured were rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.

According to an eyewitness, Tendai was drinking beer and playing snooker with Trymore and Peace at Shooters Bottle Store.

Trymore and Peace bought their tokens and waited for their turn to play.

The eyewitness said patrons in the bar complained to the bar lady, Brenda, why only gospel music was being played.

They said they wanted a different type of music.

Trymore and Peace, who were playing music from a phone, disconnected their Bluetooth and went outside the bottle store.

The eyewitness said when the two returned to the bottle store, there was a scuffle, which sucked in four people.

During the altercation, the eyewitness said, Trymore produced a knife and stabbed Tendai once on the neck.

The patrons eventually managed to subdue the suspects.

“Trymore and Peace were arrested,” said the eyewitness.

A bar manager, Faith Kabasa, said Kazingizi and Tomu were still admitted in hospital.
