DYNAMOS have been slapped with a US$2 000 fine for their fans’ rowdy behaviour after their 0-1 defeat to FC Platinum in the Chibuku Super Cup semi-final.
Referee Brighton Chimene and his assistants had to be escorted off the pitch at the National Sports Stadium last Sunday as fans were baying for their blood for allegedly denying DeMbare an equaliser.
This was after Chimene made the right call when he noticed that Dynamos’ midfielder Ali Maliselo had used his hand to push the ball past the goal line during a goal-mouth melee, with about five minutes of extra-time remaining.
Angry Dynamos’ supporters were seen charging threateningly at match officials at the end of the game and police reacted quickly to shield Chimene and his assistants off the pitch.
The Premier Soccer League issued a statement yesterday saying Dynamos were guilty of breaking Order 1.9 of the Chibuku Super Cup Disciplinary Offences and Fines and had to pay US$2 000.
According to tournament rules, the PSL can take the fine from the prize money.
“The Premier Soccer League has fined Dynamos FC following incidents of crowd trouble that occurred at the Chibuku Super Cup Semi-final match played against FC Platinum at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday 21 November 2021.
“According to Order 1.9 of the Chibuku Super Cup Disciplinary Offences and Fines, Dynamos FC have been charged a sum of two thousand dollars (US$2 000) for failing to exercise control over their fans,” said the PSL.
The PSL urged clubs to raise awareness and educate their fans and officials on football rules and regulations to ensure the safety of spectators, match officials and players at football games. – @ZililoR
