THEY say refurbishment in hotels is crucial for maintaining a fresh and modern appearance, enhancing the guest experience, boosting competitiveness in the market and ultimately driving customer satisfaction.
This also addresses wear and tear while also incorporating new design trends and technologies.
The Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) has committed US$26 million over the past five years to refurbish its hotels.
This was revealed by RTG’s CEO Tendai Madziwanyika after a media tour of their hotels last week.
Tourism plays a vital role in a country’s economy, serving as a catalyst for job creation, cultural exchange, and sustainable development.
Madziwanyika said the latest upgrades of the A’Zambezi River Lodge and Victoria Falls Rainbow Hotel will cost US$380 000.
“We are committed to creating world-class destinations that not only elevate guest experiences but also contribute to the growth of Zimbabwe’s tourism sector,” he said.
He noted that the Victoria Falls properties play a crucial role in generating foreign currency for the country.
“The A’Zambezi River Lodge has undergone extensive upgrades, with an investment of US$200 000 dedicated to modernising 42 rooms.
“Guests will now experience interiors adorned with rich teak furnishings and a soothing colour palette of blues and greys that beautifully echo the tranquil Zambezi River,” he said.
He said 44 rooms were renovated at the A’Zambezi River Lodge, transforming outdated furniture into sophisticated pieces that invite guests to unwind in comfort after a day of exploration.
“With these renovations, we are not just enhancing our hotels, we are also driving national economic growth by making Zimbabwe a more appealing destination,” Madziwanyika said.
As one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Victoria Falls holds immense strategic significance for Zimbabwe.
Over the years, Victoria Falls has attracted numerous high-profile visitors, including Hollywood celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, who visited while filming ‘Blood Diamond’, and Will Smith, who shared his experiences on social media.
Other notable visitors include Miss Universe 2024, Queen Sheynnis Palacios, Rayco Garcia, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paris Hilton, Richard Gere and Elton John.
The influx of these high-profile visitors underscores the importance of maintaining world-class hospitality standards.
Again, RTG’s broader strategic vision includes continuous investments in infrastructure, with recent projects such as the US$500 000 upgrade of the New Ambassador Hotel in Harare and the US$5,2 million renovation of the Rainbow Towers Hotel and Harare International Conference Centre.
Madziwanyika said these efforts align with their goal of contributing to the overall growth of Zimbabwe’s tourism landscape.
“As RTG, we continue to innovate and enhance customer experiences, remaining focused on providing authentic hospitality that celebrates Zimbabwe’s rich heritage.
“Our commitment to excellence is unwavering. We believe that by investing in our properties, we are not only improving our services but also supporting the economic development of the communities we operate in.”
