The drama series which was beamed on the local television at the turn of the millennium was among the best productions from the city that was well received on the local scene.
Ruzungunde, who joined the local scene back in the day in 1984 as a student at Amakhosi, will be starring in the local movie Inhlanhla.
In an interview with Saturday Leisure Ruzungunde said he had taken a break from the industry after the death of his wife last year.
“I took my leave after the untimely departure of my wife last year, but now I am fit and active to be back in the industry full time,” said Ruzungunde.
He said during his leave from the arts he was involved in a number of activities to eke a living to feed his family.
“During my absence from the local scene I would travel to Botswana and venture into the transport business to sustain my family,” he said.
He said besides doing the odd jobs he was still active as he took part in a number of radio productions.
“Over the years I have been doing a number of radio productions, but I am now back into television,” said the veteran actor.
He said shooting of the film was complete and it would hit the screen soon.
The film Inhlanhla was authored and produced by 22-year- old new kid on the block, Fortune Tazvivinga.
It is an intriguing tale of two friends whose friendship stood the test of high school relationships, dramas and later relationships.
It is a tale of friendship, love, tradition and fashion.
It is played in four languages Ndebele, Shona, English and German to prepare it for the international audience.
Ruzungunde who has over the years worked with the crème de la crème of Bulawayo that include Beatar Mangethe, Pedzisai Sithole, the late Taurai Muswere and Joyce Mpofu is also working on a feature film to be produced by the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Holdings.
Ruzungunde’s first appearance on the stage was in 1987 in the production Children of Fire and since then he has never looked back.
Over the past few years he has taken part in advocacy and civic education productions by Nhimbe Trust and Harare-based Global Trust.
He said fans must expect to see his face in a number of productions this year.
