A RYAN Burl blitzkrieg masked what was a poor batting display by the Chevrons as they slid to a 69-run defeat at the hands of Pakistan in the T20I tri-series in Rawalpindi yesterday.
The Chevrons could only post 126 in pursuit of the hosts 195/5.
Zimbabwe came into the match bubbling with confidence after their thumping win over Sri Lanka.
However, they found the hosts in the mood to secure their ticket in the final, which they did after this victory, having won all their matches.
Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka will fight for the other place tomorrow.
Pakistan powered to 195/5 thanks to big knocks from Farhan Sahibzada (63) and Babar Azam (74).
The Zimbabwe batters struggled in their reply and only two of them – Burl and captain Sikanda Raza – managed double figures.
Usman Tariq, with 4-18, was the chief destroyer. Thanks to Burl’s fireworks, Zimbabwe recorded their highest ever 10th wicket partnership in a T20I and also dragged themselves out of NRR trouble.
