Ryan Giggs backs Mourinho

LONDON. — Ryan Giggs reckons Jose Mourinho’s proven record makes him worthy of being Manchester United manager. The Portuguese tactician was named as Louis van Gaal’s successor at the end of May after months of speculation.

Giggs had hoped to land the top job, but Mourinho’s appointment saw him quit the club and end his 29-year association with the Red Devils.

But the Welshman looks to have no hard feelings towards the 53-year-old.

“Jose Mourinho is obviously a top, top manager. United are always about winning trophies — and he’s proven,” Giggs told CNN.

Asked about his exit from the club, he added: “I’ve never been one to look back, I always look forward. — The Daily Express.
