SA-based woman elopes to lover’s matrimonial home

A SOUTH Africa-based woman eloped to her Harare lover’s matrimonial home shortly after his wife’s death.

Jamison Runesu said he had no intentions to move in with Sekai Murire.

He also said he was only determined to maintain their child, born out of wedlock, but was not prepared to move in with the baby mama, since he was still mourning his wife.

The matter came to light after Jamison applied for a protection order at the Harare Civil Court against Sekai.

He accused Sekai of verbal and emotional abuse.

“I met Sekai in South Africa and we never stayed together as husband and wife.

“She was only my girlfriend that I used to take to lodges.

“I was shocked when I heard the news from my sisters that she had eloped to my matrimonial house which I shared with my deceased wife,” he said.

Added Jamison:

“I tried to talk to her but she keeps refusing to move out of the property.

“According to our tradition, it’s taboo for a woman to elope to another wife’s house.

“Now, Sekai is in the habit of issuing some death threats and insulting me using obscenities.”

In response, Sekai denied the allegations.

She argued that when she eloped, her sister-in-law was the one who left her at that place.

“Jamison is not being truthful because when l came back from SA, he was the one who advised me to elope to his village in Bikita.

“Jamison sisters are the ones who then accompanied me to stay in the house I am staying in right now.”

Presiding magistrate Sharon Mashavire granted the protection order in Jamison’s favour.
