A SOUTH African indigenous business delegation will visit Bulawayo at the end of this month to explore opportunities for business engagement with their city counterparts.
The delegation will tour selected companies and meet members of the business community and other business organisations between November 25-27, 2015.
Acting Bulawayo City Council town clerk Sikhangele Zhou confirmed the proposed visit in a council report.
She told councillors and senior staff the Counsellor for Economic Affairs at the South African Embassy, Frank Stevens, “has advised that a South African business delegation comprising mainly members of the Black Business Council will visit Bulawayo on 25th-27 November, 2015”.
Zhou said the delegation would have one on one meetings with members of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), Association of Businesses Zimbabwe (ABUZ), among other business organisations.
It is envisaged the delegation will conduct a tour of National Blankets, the Cold Storage Company, Apollo Tyres (Dunlop) and the National Railways of Zimbabwe.
Zhou said a detailed programme of the visit is being finalised.
The city council has said it will host the delegation and close to 200 guests at a cost of about $5,000.
“This initiative is seen as an opportunity to market the city as a destination for business and promote investment in Bulawayo,” said council.
