Makopfane pleaded guilty to contravening section 110 of the Grave Act before provincial magistrate Mr Enias Magate. Mr Magate also referred him to the Department of Social Welfare to get assistance with food.
Makopfane told the court that he committed the offence because he was hungry and needed to get people’s attention to help him with food.
Agreed facts were that on September 21 and at around 8pm, Makopfane went to Rushiangu Village under Chief Neshuro in Mwenezi.
Upon arrival, he proceeded to a deserted homestead of the late Cephas Mudzamuri where he destroyed a tombstone to the grave.
