SA King urges people to vote for Zanu-PF

SOUTH African Xhosa king Zwelonke Sigcawu yesterday visited the Xhosa community in Mbembesi, Matabeleland North, where he urged Zimbabweans to continue voting for Zanu-PF.
Vice-President Phekezela Mphoko attended the ceremony during which the Apostolic Faith and Acts Church in Mbete Village unveiled a five-roomed house which will be donated to an underprivileged family in Mbembesi.

Speaking in Xhosa, King Zwelonke reminded his Zimbabwean subjects that all the development they were enjoying  was brought by Zanu-PF, before urging Government to complete building a school in Mbembesi whose construction villagers initiated.

“We as traditional leaders encourage peace and unity among the people and mostly importantly do not forget to vote for Zanu-PF. I ask the Government to help the community finish building a school here, a project that disappeared into the air due to financial constraints,” he said.

Speaking during the ceremony, VP Mphoko urged people to unite in order to develop the community.
“Development is in our minds; if you unite you will progress and come up with many ideas. This country is very rich, we have gold everywhere but some people sit on their brains. Do not run for the bone but run for the meat. If you work with people you will come up with something. I thank the king for visiting Zimbabwe and remember a king is a king despite distance so you must respect your king,” said VP Mphoko.

Apostolic Faith and Acts Church led by Pastor Lovemore Mtyida also pledged two cattle, furniture and a fence around the house that will be donated to an underprivileged family that is yet to be identified.

“We thank the Government for helping us build the house through partnership. We are offering this house for free to any member of the community because we are working on uplifting our society,” said Pastor Mtyida.

“As a church, we bought an ambulance for our community but the Government will hand it over to you soon.”
Macro-Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Minister Dr Obert Mpofu, who is also the area’s representative in the House of Assembly, said Government supports churches that bring people close to God and encourage peace and unity.

“We are here because we support churches that encourage peace and unity. I thank the church for making us all gather here today. I encourage all people to work hard so that the community develops. I say to you work with the Government so that you succeed and develop,” he said.

Apostolic Faith and Acts Church is planning to build a soccer stadium which will see sports stars rising from the community. The stadium will be named after VP Mphoko.
