WHEN the Lady Chevrons host the Proteas women side in a five-match T20I cricket series in September, the tour will be a landmark occasion for Zimbabwe cricket.
It will be the first time the South African women’s side will travel to Zimbabwe for a bilateral series, post Zimbabwe’s maiden white-ball tour in Pakistan.
The series will be played at the Queen Sports Club in Bulawayo with the first match to begin on September 11.
Zimbabwe’s last home assignment came in September 2025 when they hosted UAE. Since then, the Lady Chevrons have spent much of their time on the road, undertaking notable tours to Pakistan and New Zealand.
The two sides have met only twice at the senior level. Both the games were ODIs that were played as part of a quadrangular series held in Potchefstroom, South Africa, in May 2017.
The series comes at an important stage for Zimbabwe who are looking to rebuild after a disappointing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2026 where they failed to qualify for the main tournament.

“South Africa are one of the strongest teams in world cricket and this tour presents our players with a valuable opportunity to test themselves against elite opposition in home conditions.”
“We believe these matches will contribute significantly to the development of our national team while also inspiring the next generation of women to take up the sport.”
