their game against East Africa side Kenya who they take on in the Victoria Cup at Hartsfield Rugby Ground in Bulawayo next weekend.
The Sables are preparing for the big game against Michael “Tank” Otieno’s side as they Sables hope to maintain their winning run in continental games.
Sables team manager Noddy Kanyanga-rara yesterday indicated that preparations for the game are set to start tomorrow with the squad training in separate groups in Harare and Bulawayo before the players in the capital city move to Bulawayo for full camp on Wednesday.
“Training starts at 3pm at (Harare) Sports Club on Sunday (tomorrow) and we are going to retain most of the players that played in Uganda.
“We will move on to Bulawayo where we will have a full camp before taking on Kenya at Hartsfield on Saturday,” said the National Rugby League president.
Among those expected to converge for the Harare camp are prop Denford Mutamangira, veteran Costa Dinha, centre Daniel Hondo and fullback Daniel Roberston.
Meanwhile, the Sables have clinched a medical sponsorship deal with Chemayde Pharmacy who are going to be providing the side with medical supplies for 2011.
Kanyangarara believes the package will go a long way in assisting the Sables and felt that it is a sign of confidence in the Sables as they try to breathe life back into national rugby.
“We are very humbled to partner Chemayde Pharmacy in our efforts to re-establish ourselves as a major rugby playing nation. Chemayde’s sponsorship goes a long way as medical kit is one of the major items a team requires when going into camp or playing matches.
“This is a first for the team to get a full medical kit going into Test matches. So on behalf of the Zimbabwe Rugby Union, Sables chairman, technical team and most importantly the Sables, I would like to thank Nicky Moyo-Dhlamini and her Chemayde team for coming on board to assist the team, and we look forward to long and fruitful marriage,” Kanyangarara said.
