SADC chairman President Mnangagwa has urged member states to intensify efforts in securing peace and stability saying the success of SADC Vision 2050 and AU Agenda 2063 depends on a solid foundation of security.

In his closing remarks at the SADC Extraordinary Summit, President Mnangagwa said silencing the guns, particularly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), where SAMIDRC (SADC Mission in the DRC) is deployed was urgent.

“We must remain relentless in our quest to create a peaceful and prosperous SADC and Africa,” he said.

“No one and no place must be left behind. It is our collective duty to ensure lasting peace so that our people can enjoy development.”

He urged all parties to the conflict to honor the Luanda Ceasefire Agreement and the Nairobi Peace Process saying dialogue is essential for lasting stability.

“Military efforts alone are not enough. Sustainable peace can only be achieved through inclusive dialogue and political solutions,” President Mnangagwa said.

He also called on the international community to increase humanitarian aid for those affected by the conflict.

As the summit ended, leaders reaffirmed their commitment to regional stability and economic growth, with President Mnangagwa’s message serving as a clear call to action, Africa must take charge of its own destiny.
