SADC Executive Secretary pays courtesy call on President Mnangagwa ahead of Extraordinary Summit

SADC Executive Secretary, Mr Elias Magosi, this morning paid a courtesy call on His Excellency, President Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa, at State House in Harare. 

The visit comes just a day before Zimbabwe hosts the Extraordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government.

During the meeting, Mr Magosi briefed President Mnangagwa, the current Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), on the preparations for tomorrow’s summit. 

The key agenda of the summit will focus on the escalating situation in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), which remains a significant concern for the region.

“We paid a courtesy call on His Excellency as the Chairperson of SADC. He will be chairing the Extraordinary Summit meeting tomorrow to discuss the situation in the eastern DRC, which is a worrying issue. We also briefed him on the preparations for the meeting and the agenda that will be discussed,” said Mr Magosi.

The summit is expected to draw attention to the ongoing instability in the DRC and explore potential solutions to mitigate the crisis.

The Extraordinary SADC Summit will take place in Harare tomorrow, with Heads of State and Government from across the Southern African region expected to attend.
