Sadio Mane honoured

LIVERPOOL. — Sadio Mane has picked up Liverpool’s Player of the Season and Player’s Player of the Year award at the Reds’ at the club’s end-of-campaign awards ceremony.

The brace of awards caps an excellent first season at Anfield for the £34million summer signing from Southampton.

Despite missing the run-in through injury and going to the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, Mane has had a huge impression on the Reds and was named in the 2016-17 PFA Team of the Year. “I just want to thank my team-mates and supporters for giving me this honour,” he said.

“It means so much to me. I feel at home at this club and in this city.

“My team-mates, the staff, the manager and the supporters have all made me feel so welcome since I joined the club. I have loved every minute of playing for Liverpool this season and can’t wait to get back fit to help the team again.”The Senegal international netted 15 times this season, who had a better evening than his team-mate Phillipe Coutinho, who saw a window on his £50 000 Porsche smashed while attending the ceremony. — The Mirror.
